They say the Mediterranean spoils us with sunshine, but if a day dawns gray, Mallorca has a secret side to be enjoyed indoors. Don’t let the clouds dim your energy: here are some ideas to turn a rainy day into one of the most memorable of your trip.

When the sky doesn’t help, head underground: Mallorca is home to caves that are true natural treasures, such as the Cuevas del Drach (in Porto Cristo), among others. Take your time exploring them: vast chambers, stalactites and stalagmites that look like living sculptures. In fact, you’ll find a post about them right here on this blog. 😊 Check past entries and let yourself be amazed.

If you’d rather go for something more cultural, there are plenty of options, too. In Palma and elsewhere on the island, you’ll find a wide range of museums (history, modern art, archaeology) and galleries where you can immerse yourself and be inspired… while learning something new!
Stroll slowly through the halls, notice the details, connect with local stories. Many venues offer activities, talks, or temporary exhibitions that change the experience. Forget the clock: enjoy art at its own pace.

The island also has family-friendly options. Want to see sharks, reefs, or sea creatures without getting wet? At the aquarium in Playa de Palma you can experience life under the sea, discovering marine flora and fauna from the Mediterranean and beyond. Prepare to be amazed!

Relax the way you deserve
There’s something almost poetic about the contrast between the storm outside and the warmth, steam, or soft light inside. Dedicate a few hours to well-being: spa circuits, jacuzzis, saunas, thermal baths. Let the rain patter on the roof while you drift away with scents, sensations, and inner calm.

When evening comes and the rain doesn’t stop, indoor leisure activities become a fun refuge for everyone. Choose a movie theater, try an escape room with friends or family, or dive into indoor entertainment centers with games, themed rooms, or interactive activities. The goal: lose track of time.

And if the rain is light or takes a break, take the chance to wander the old town under an umbrella. The cobbled streets, arches, stone balconies, and hidden corners take on a new character in the rain: intimate, even romantic. Walk at a gentle pace, pause at curious windows, and let the sound of raindrops become your soundtrack.

IMPORTANT!
Bring comfortable, waterproof shoes, a light rain jacket, and a small backpack to shelter when the drizzle starts. Above all, take the day as a gift: Mallorca in the rain has a light all of its own.
