MarSenses Hotels & Homes and Fundació Deixalles have signed a collaboration agreement that involves the participation of both entities in the circularity of textile materials and furniture donated by the hotel chain for subsequent reuse in their own hotels, in third parties or for sale in the Foundation’s shops.

This is the start of a collaboration whereby both entities will pool their resources to give a second life to many of the items that, in their current state, are not usable. The Fundació Deixalles will prepare these items for reuse in its different workshops on the island and, subsequently, they will be bought back by MarSenses and used or sold in its accommodation.

With the signing of this agreement, 8.4 tons of towels and other textiles have been donated and will soon be on sale in the hotels of MarSenses Hotels & Homes in Mallorca and Menorca. As a result of the renovations carried out over the last two years, the company has also donated more than 300 pieces of furniture to Deixalles which, after a restoration process, will be sold in its shops. These actions are part of the ReCare by MarSenses circularity programme, which includes the recovery and refurbishment of items and materials from the hotels to give them a new use.

“It is our firm conviction that when people with common interests and values come together, whose goals are to achieve better social and environmental well-being, the results are always positive. This is a multidisciplinary collaboration with small actions that encompass a large project behind it, which is led by our president Francisca B. Vidal and which is constantly evolving,” says Rodrigo Fitaroni, general manager of the hotel chain.

“These alliances allow us to move towards more sustainable islands, where the environment and people at risk of exclusion can have a second chance,” says Xesca Martí, director of Fundació Deixalles.
