Today we are going to one of the most charming villages on the island: Valldemossa. Not only for its views and its perfect location on the north coast of Mallorca, but also for its magical and beautiful streets, its people and its magnificent Carthusian monastery. A must-see place on the island that contains so much love and so much history.

The Cartuja (Charterhouse) is one of Valldemossa’s hallmarks, as it was home, among other things, to the love affair between the musician Chopin and his lover, back in 1838. It was also the place of inspiration for the Franco-Polish musician for his ‘Preludes Op. 28’. Likewise, his partner, George Sand (the pseudonym used by Amantine Aurore Lucile Dupin de Dudevant), wrote her celebrated and well-known work ‘A Winter in Mallorca’ there.  Of course, over the years and centuries, many artists have lived in Valldemosa, such as Rubén Darío, Jorge Luís Borges and Santiago Rusiñol, among others.

For that reason, a visit to La Cartuja is a must. Once you have discovered its charms, it is time to lose yourself in its streets and lookouts. There you can see, enjoy and take photos and videos (also perfect for Instagram content 😊 ) of the beautiful landscapes and the mountains that surround this Mallorcan town.

After so much hustle and bustle, it’s time to stop and recharge your batteries. You’ve earned it! That’s why we recommend you try Coca de Patata, a typical dessert (or snack, however you like to look at it) of the island. It goes perfectly with a coffee with milk (café con leche), with almond ice cream (you shouldn’t miss this gastronomic wonder) or with a cocoa milkshake typical of the island.
