In the previous post, we gave you some tips on what to do on a rainy day in Mallorca. Well, more like just a few ideas of things you could try. Now, here are some more options just as good as the first ones. But remember, there’s one thing you’ll need on these days: PATIENCE!

Why do we say patience?
It’s simple. When it rains—even just a couple of drops—the island seems to collapse, or at least that’s how it feels to us locals. Add to that the number of people—with their rental cars—looking for alternative plans and all end up in the same spots, and there you have it: traffic jams are everywhere. Not all the time, but a LOT. That becomes a reality and the “normalcy” during these days.

The sooner you familiarize yourself with this situation, in case it happens, the better 🙂

By the way, those “same spots” are usually: Palma’s city center with its shops and restaurants, or shopping malls (in part 3 we’ll tell you more and even share some tips and tricks 😊).

But for now, let’s focus on today. Because it’s still raining, it’s still cold, and you still need things to do (if you haven’t already opted for spa and relaxation in your hotel or resort). Let’s do this!

Whether in the capital area or in one of the many charming villages, we recommend a route through emblematic buildings: churches, cathedrals, old palaces, restored historic landmarks.

Covered markets are little universes of aromas, colors, and local life. Stroll among stalls of local products (fruits, vegetables, artisanal specialties), watch people go about their routines, step into adjacent indoor halls. It’s the perfect way to explore, wander, and immerse yourself in everyday life. Plus, many markets also host spaces showcasing products, crafts, or local art right inside. –There’s also a post about this from a few months ago. Go check the blog index and enjoy!–

More than just a tourist.
Yes, you read that right—you’re not imagining things. If you already felt like a tourist, a rainy day is the perfect excuse to “become an artist for a while.” Sign up for workshops: ceramics, mosaics, dye labs, woodcraft, painting classes, or sessions teaching traditional Mallorcan techniques. That way, you leave with something made by you—a keepsake with your personal touch.

If your idea of fun is calmer, we’ve also got options for those who enjoy silence and knowledge. Browsing books is traveling without moving, and the island has countless places for it. Look for libraries or cultural spaces with collections about Mallorca, its history, and its literature. Spend a quiet morning leafing through old maps, local memoirs, or travelers’ accounts. Sometimes you’ll even find reading nooks with a window overlooking the rainy street: wonderfully evocative.

Moments of introspection: charming cafés, writing, or music
Even if we don’t name cafés, you’ll surely find cozy corners to take shelter in. That pause in the middle of the rain can become one of the memories you treasure most: write down what you see, feel the contrast between the warm interior and the sound of the water, listen to local music. Turn that pause into an experience that’s uniquely yours.

This is also a way of caring for and pampering yourself—without overspending! Small and simple things!
