This time, we want to show you one of the most iconic villages on the island of Mallorca. Just 20 minutes by train from Palma – and with excellent road connections – Santa Maria (or Santa Maria del Camí) offers peace, nature, sports, and a vibrant social life for all kinds of visitors.

Nestled in a spectacular setting, surrounded by vineyards and with numerous hiking and cycling routes, this Mallorcan municipality, home to over 7,500 residents, allows both locals and internationals (many tourists have visited and decided to make it their home) to enjoy tranquility away from the bustle of the capital, while staying connected to other nearby towns.

A peaceful resort with a charming local atmosphere, plenty of activity, and impressive wineries make Santa Maria one of the most visited spots on the island. And not just in summer – it’s a destination worth discovering in winter, spring, and autumn too.

Imagine strolling through its streets with typical Mallorcan architecture, enjoying a coffee in the town square where locals chat about life, the weather, and food… Magical, special moments that create lasting emotions and memories.

Its cuisine is typical of the island, with traditional recipes that keep the essence of Mallorca alive and will delight your palate (you can discover many in our previous posts 😊). All of it paired with local wines such as those from Macià Batle, which have been pleasing both local and international wine lovers since 1856.

We highly recommend visiting the wineries, as they offer daily tours of their facilities, explaining the winemaking process and sharing the rich history of both the village and this renowned Mallorcan wine brand.

But if after walking through the streets, touring the wineries, and soaking in the local atmosphere you’re still eager to explore more of the area around Santa Maria, here are other nearby villages you’ll love – and that will make you fall even more in love with the island: Bunyola, Binissalem, Santa Eugènia, Alaró, and Orient.

As always, we suggest you get lost in the streets and nearby towns – it’s the best way to discover and truly enjoy the magic our island has to offer.
